Economic Data Evidence

The 10-year Treasury yield rose as high as 5.04% on September 15 2026, its highest since July 2007, and ended the New York session at 5.00% - the first 5% close of the cycle, the day before the FOMC. Bloomberg attributed the move to booming capital investment and soaring energy prices worsening inflation, with traders positioned for a hike. The 10-year was 4.85% at the September 9 close, so the week added roughly fifteen basis points on top of a tripled Treasury buyback.
