May 2026 CPI (released Wednesday June 10, 8:30 AM ET) rose 0.5% m/m seasonally adjusted, putting headline inflation at 4.2% YoY - the fastest pace since April 2023. The energy index rose 3.9% in May and accounted for over sixty percent of the monthly all-items increase; gasoline rose 7% m/m and is up 40.5% YoY; shelter +0.3% m/m; food +0.2% m/m. The energy-passthrough channel printing directly into the headline index.
